Hixon Parish Council

We are looking for a new Councillor – could you fit the bill?

LOCAL ISSUES NEED LOCAL PEOPLE TO SPEAK UP FOR THEM

https://hixon.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/pointed-finger-image-for-website-images.jpgYOU could help keep Hixon a vibrant, good place to live by becoming a Parish Councillor. YOU could be in at the ‘grass roots’ level of Local Government and be involved in making things happen or getting things sorted!

YOU could get local views about local issues brought to the attention of the powers that be.
You will need to be able to give up one evening a month (currently every 2 months) to attend Parish Council meetings and to help out with/lead projects and take on tasks when you are able to. In return you will receive the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping your local community. Other committees/working groups may require your attendance as well.

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and a British subject or a citizen of the Commonwealth or European Union and must satisfy at least one of the following:

  • be a local government elector for the Parish of Hixon;

  • have, during the whole of the previous 12 months, had your principal or only place of work in the parish;
  • have resided in the parish during the whole of the previous 12 months

The Parish Council usually meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 7.00pm currently every other month, subject to change.

Any person interested in becoming a Parish Councillor should contact the Clerk, Catherine Gill, by email on  clerk@hixon.gov.uk  for more information and to apply

in writing stating why you would like to be a parish councillor and giving some
background information about yourself – by 30th June 2025.
