Hixon Parish Council spends over £11,000 each year on mowing, strimming and weed-killing public open spaces and maintaining planting beds. The Council always aims to do more year-on-year if finances allow.
For the 2024 grass cutting season, areas on most of the council maintained open spaces are being left uncut until the end of the growing season, to promote wildflower growth and promote biodiversity.
The next major proposed project is to soften the ‘look’ around the Gateways at the entrances to the village, with the use of large planters planted up with seasonal flowers.
