Planning update
21/34042/FUL Retrospective upgrading of three existing agricultural accesses, land adjacent Rakestone, Stowe Lane, Hixon.
Hixon Parish Council, together with Stowe Parish Council, objected to this application.
All three gateways were refused planning permission by Stafford Borough Council planners in August 2021. Staffordshire County Council highways also objected on highways grounds.
To date (March 2022) Stafford Borough Council has not indicated what enforcement action, if any, has been demanded.
Speed Indicator Devices
A new Speed Indicator Device (SID) has been installed on the approach into Hixon at New Road. The device displays the speed of vehicles as they enter the 30mph zone. Speeding drivers are advised to slow down from a distance of 100m. Drivers obeying the instruction are rewarded with a “Thank You.”
The SID will be moved around the village at monthly intervals to locations in Church Lane, Church Road and Lea Road. The SID, solar panels, support poles and installation were paid for by Hixon Parish Council for a total cost of £4,200.
