Policy No. 5 of the Hixon Neighbourhood Plan (adopted November 2016) seeks to preserve and protect the history and heritage of the local community. It states “To ensure the protection of existing Listed Buildings in Hixon parish. Further, to identify other buildings and sites that are heritage assets so that they may be protected from neglect or adverse development and where appropriate put forward for statutory or local listing or other protected status.”
Hixon Heritage Buildings are buildings that belie their external appearance.
Hixon Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group identifies Hixon Heritage Buildings and asks the current householders them to write as much as they know about the property and its hidden history. The history appears on the Hixon Parish Council website and a plaque is fixed to the property. Hixon Parish Council pays for the plaques.
Hixon Heritage Buildings are buildings that belie their external appearance and have a history that the current householders would like to share with a wider audience.
