New Cricket Facility Gets Thumbs Up
Stafford Borough Council Planning Committee has approved plans for a new all-weather cricket practice pitch at the Hixon Parish Council Church Lane Playing Fields.
A 27m long x 4.26m wide all weather artificial grass surface, with a 3.6m high x 20.24m long net enclosure, has been given permission and the Parish Council has three years to complete the works. The image gives an idea how the facility will look alongside the existing Multi-Use-Games-Area (MUGA).
The facility is likely to cost in vicinity of £20,000, with at least half the amount being met by external funding, grants and sponsorship.
If built, the facility will allow aspiring cricketers to hone their batting and bowling skills in a safe environment under the guidance of volunteer cricket coaches.
